We assist immigrant youth with cultural, linguistic and employment barriers to better integrate into Canadian society by providing them with information and support in areas of education, employment skills and life skills training.
Who: Immigrant youth ages 15-24 years
ACTIVITIES:
Education Support:
Youth can bring their homework and receive assistance from volunteers and staff. There are various workshops and presentations throughout the year.
Saturday Self Study
Every Saturday (except long weekends) From 12:000pm - 3:00pm Location: IYOP Office (#100A, 315 - 10th Avenue SE)
After School Homework Group
Every Wednesday (during the school year) From 4:00pm - 6:00pm Location: G.W. Skene Elementary School (6226 Penbrooke Dr. SE)
Lending Programs
Borrow a laptop, digital camera or a graphing calculator for a period of 2 weeks
Employment Support:
Employment Counselling
Ongoing employment workshops and individual counselling to help youth gain Canadian work experience. Learn how to create a resume and cover letter, search and apply for jobs and map out your career path.
